Hey Oxfordians!
Summer is here in full swing β and so is the scorching heat! As the sun shines brighter and the days get longer, itβs important that you shine too, by taking care of your body, your mind, and your routine.
Here are some smart and simple ways to cope up with the summer and stay cool, safe, and productive!

π₯€ 1. Hydrate Like a Hero
Water is your best friend this season! Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water daily. Add natural coolers like:
- Coconut water
- Lemon juice (nimbu pani)
- Buttermilk (chaas)
β¨ Pro Tip: Carry a reusable water bottle wherever you go β and donβt wait to feel thirsty!
π₯ 2. Eat Light, Eat Right

Avoid heavy, spicy, and oily food. Instead, go for:
- Fresh fruits (especially watermelon, cucumber, muskmelon)
- Leafy salads
- Homemade curd and yogurt-based dishes
β¨ Fun Tip: Make your fruit juice at home.
π³ 3. Stay Indoors During Peak Hours
Between 11 AM to 4 PM, the sun is at its strongest. Avoid outdoor activities during this time. If you must step out:
- Wear a cap or carry an umbrella
- Use sunscreen
- Wear light-colored, loose cotton clothes
π§ 4. Keep Your Mind Cool Too!

Heat can also make us feel irritable and tired. To stay mentally calm:
- Practice deep breathing or meditation for 5-10 minutes daily
- Read a new book or start journaling
- Listen to calming music or start a hobby you love
π 5. Use This Time to Learn Something New
Why not use this summer to grow? Try:
- Learning a new skill online (coding, drawing, creative writing, etc.)
- Watching educational YouTube channels
- Helping your parents or volunteering for a social cause
β¨ Oxford Tip: Students who make the most of their holidays come back refreshed, confident, and more aware!
π΄ 6. Sleep Well

Summer vacations often mess with sleep routines β but a tired body overheats faster. Aim for:
- 7-9 hours of good sleep
- A regular bedtime and wake-up time
- Avoid screens at least 30 minutes before sleeping
